I
confess. I never aspired to become an author. Well-intentioned family
members encouraged me to write a book following the occasional,
eccentric comment, but I never took them seriously.
Then in
the fall of 2011, my best friend, whose sympathetic ear had tired of
listening to me drone on about my husband and children, asked, "Why
don't you write it down? Make it into something different, something
better? Write your fantasy." And in my contrary mind, an idea took hold. What if instead of making it better, I made it worse? Much, much worse? A Thousand Tiny Cracks, my first novel, is the result of that conversation.
Writing
this book changed my entire life. From it, I found my voice. It led me
to some of my best friends, to a new career, and to a confidence in
myself I never even imagined possible. My favorite hobby, Twitter, has
given me connections to a whole new world of people who approach life
and parenting in the same way I do, as evidenced by my inclusion in
Science of Parenthood's The BIGGER Book of Parenting Tweets.
Reality
no longer ruins my life. Sometimes it scares me because I'm too happy
and waiting for the inevitable fall, but for now, I'll take it.
Thank you for visiting my site!
